Going canyoning in La Seu d’Urgell is an excellent choice. Thanks to its location and mountainous terrain, the area is ideal for adventure sports such as canyoning.
Just 40 minutes from La Seu d’Urgell, you will find the Boixols Canyon, one of the most popular descents among canyoning enthusiasts. It is a beginner-friendly canyon offering all the essential features of a great route, including jumps from different heights, natural slides and abseils of up to 15 metres.

If you want to go canyoning in Alt Urgell, we recommend starting with Boixols Canyon, whether it is your first experience or you simply want to discover some of the most interesting canyoning routes near the region.
Although Boixols Canyon is our main recommendation, it is not located within Alt Urgell itself, but in the neighbouring Pallars Jussà region. Nevertheless, its proximity makes it one of the best options for visitors staying in Alt Urgell.

Other canyons in Alt Urgell that we recommend include Font de Bordonera and Perles. Both are suitable for beginners, but that does not make them any less interesting.
Font de Bordonera Canyon offers a pleasant descent through an open riverbed, with well-controlled drops of up to 20 metres, a couple of enjoyable natural slides and numerous optional jumps from different heights.
The water level is usually low in summer because some of the water is diverted for irrigation, which can affect the canyoning conditions.
Another highlight of canyoning in Alt Urgell is the Perles Canyon, an adventurous descent through a beautiful, well-formed limestone corridor in an impressive natural setting. Although the route is relatively short, it includes a natural slide and several abseils.
The most spectacular abseil is the final one, a vertical 18-metre descent that finishes in the Perles River. The river is normally calm, but it is always important to check the current water level and conditions before beginning the activity.

Organyà is an excellent base for canyoning. Located beside the Segre River and further south than La Seu d’Urgell, it provides even easier access to Boixols, Font de Bordonera and Perles. The latter is officially known as Sant Ponç Canyon, although it is located near the village of Perles.
Organyà is surrounded by mountain ranges and impressive rock walls. To the north lies the Tres Ponts Gorge, to the west the mountain of Santa Fe, and to the south the Pont de l’Espia. With this dramatic terrain, almost any outdoor activity becomes an adventure.

If you come to Coll de Nargó for canyoning, you have made an excellent choice. This village is located in the southern part of Alt Urgell, close to Organyà, and its position makes it particularly convenient for canyoning and many other outdoor activities.
