Caving course

Caving course in the Pyrenees

This caving course in the Pyrenees is designed for people who want to get started with technical progression through caves and learn how to use the basic equipment correctly.

The training combines practice in a suitable environment with subsequent application in a real cave in the Pallars. The aim is to acquire a solid technical foundation and understand how to move more safely underground.

  • Level: Beginner
  • Previous experience: Not required
  • Location: Pallars / Pyrenees

Who is this course for?

It is aimed at people with no previous technical experience or those with some first experience in caving who want to learn the basics of vertical progression.

You do not need to know how to use ropes before the course.

What you will learn

  • personal caving equipment and how to fit it correctly;
  • horizontal progression through caves;
  • rope descent and ascent;
  • use of descenders and ascenders;
  • passing rebelays;
  • progression along traverses;
  • basic manoeuvre changes;
  • communication and safety inside the cave;
  • basic activity planning.

How the training is organised

The training progresses gradually. First, the manoeuvres are practised in a controlled environment, where they can be repeated and mistakes corrected calmly.

The techniques learned are then applied in a real cave, also working on movement, equipment management and adaptation to underground terrain.

Learning the technique and understanding when to use it

The aim is not to memorise movements. During the course we also explain why each technique is used and how factors such as the type of cave, fatigue, the group or the characteristics of a vertical section can influence the choice.

In this way, participants begin to develop not only technical ability, but also sound decision-making skills.

Requirements

A basic level of fitness is recommended, along with being comfortable on uneven terrain and not suffering from claustrophobia that would prevent normal participation.

Personalised training

If you already have experience and want to work only on specific techniques — rope ascent, rebelays, traverses or manoeuvre changes — we can adapt the training to your level.

Personalised training: duration and price tailored to you

MundoCanyon courses are adapted to each participant’s level, previous experience and objectives. For this reason, the duration of the training, number of sessions and price are determined individually.

Before planning the course, we have a short conversation to understand your starting point: what experience you have, which techniques you already master, what you need to improve and what your objective is.

Someone starting from zero does not need the same training as someone who already practises the activity and wants to perfect specific techniques. Likewise, some participants need a single focused session, while others require a more complete and progressive training process.

Based on this assessment, we define the most suitable content, duration and format and provide you with a corresponding personalised quote.
