Aigüeta Barbaruens Canyon

The Aigüeta Barbaruens Canyon is one of the classic canyoning descents in the Pyrenees. The canyon is located near the village of Barbaruens, in the heart of the Huesca Pyrenees – Benasque Valley. It is a very complete, dynamic, fun and aquatic descent.

This is a technical-level canyon, which means that previous canyoning experience is recommended before taking part in this activity. In addition, the approach is quite long (1 h 30 min to 2 hours on foot) and demanding, so a good level of physical fitness is required to complete this canyon.

The Aigüeta Barbaruens Canyon is striking for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and the unique beauty of its surroundings: high walls covered with lush vegetation, vines and trees hanging from the cliffs – all of this creates the feeling of being deep in the jungle.

The canyon has several rappels, numerous natural slides and jumps of up to 10 m. Some of the rappels can be replaced by jumps, but the water flow must always be assessed beforehand to make sure that jumping is safe.

During the descent, we will discover the flora and fauna of the canyon and enjoy the beauty of the geological formations sculpted by water into the rock walls over millions of years.

These times are approximate and will depend on the participants’ level, the size of the group and the water flow. We also need to add the time required for the briefing, getting changed before the activity and changing afterwards, so the entire activity will take approximately 5 hours.
