Via ferrata course

Via ferrata course in the Pyrenees

This via ferrata course in the Pyrenees is designed for people who want to learn how to progress correctly on a via ferrata, use the specific equipment properly and understand how to prepare an outing more safely.

The training takes place mainly in the Pallars and the Lleida Pyrenees, working in real terrain. The aim is not only to learn how to move along rungs and cables, but also to understand the equipment, the difficulty of the route, effort management and the risks that may arise during the activity.

  • Level: Beginner
  • Previous experience: Not required
  • Location: Pallars / Lleida Pyrenees

Who is this course for?

It is aimed at people who want to get started with via ferratas and learn how to use the equipment correctly before beginning to tackle routes independently.

It can also be useful for those who have already completed a via ferrata accompanied by someone else but want to understand progression techniques, planning and safety criteria better.

What you will learn

  • specific via ferrata equipment;
  • correct use of helmet, harness and energy absorber;
  • progression on rungs, cables and vertical sections;
  • safe carabiner changes;
  • body position and effort management;
  • how to tackle more physical sections;
  • understanding via ferrata difficulty ratings;
  • basic activity planning;
  • weather and terrain conditions;
  • common mistakes and how to avoid them.

How the training is organised

The training begins with an explanation of the equipment and basic progression techniques. These are then applied directly during a real via ferrata route.

Throughout the activity, we work on body positioning, correct use of the energy absorber, effort management and how to deal with different types of sections.

The route is selected according to the group’s level and the objectives of the course.

More than just following the cable

A via ferrata does not begin at the first rung. Before starting the activity, it is necessary to assess the difficulty, length, elevation gain, escape routes, weather and the level of the participants.

That is why the course also includes concepts of planning and decision-making, so participants learn how to choose routes suited to their experience and recognise when conditions are not appropriate.

Requirements

No previous experience is required. A basic level of fitness is recommended, as well as not having a fear of heights that would prevent you from moving normally in vertical terrain.

What you will be able to do after the course

The training provides a foundation for using the equipment correctly, understanding the difficulty of a via ferrata better and continuing to practise on routes suited to your level.

Independence develops progressively through practice and experience, especially before attempting longer, more technical or more exposed routes.

Personalised training: duration and price tailored to you

MundoCanyon courses are adapted to each participant’s level, previous experience and objectives. For this reason, the duration of the training, number of sessions and price are determined individually.

Before planning the course, we have a short conversation to understand your starting point: what experience you have, which techniques you already master, what you need to improve and what your objective is.

Someone starting from zero does not need the same training as someone who already practises the activity and wants to perfect specific techniques. Likewise, some participants need a single focused session, while others require a more complete and progressive training process.

Based on this assessment, we define the most suitable content, duration and format and provide you with a corresponding personalised quote.
