Peonera Canyon is one of the classic canyons in the Sierra de Guara. It is located near the town of Bierge.
It is a very aquatic, fun, and dynamic canyon. Additionally, it is one of the most popular canyons in the Sierra and Canyons Natural Park of Guara. It is a very complete canyon that has everything to enjoy one of your best canyoning experiences.
It offers multiple jumps into turquoise water pools, siphons, basins, flooded corridors, and slides.
Ropes are not necessary to descend, making the activity very dynamic and sporty.
The technical difficulty of Peonera Canyon depends on the water flow at the time.
Peonera Canyon offers two access options depending on the group’s conditions. The main access called Estrecho de Fornazos allows the full descent. Another access (Estrechos del Puntillo) is located in the middle of the canyon and is ideal for beginners and families with children.
Peonera Canyon is formed by the Alcanadre River as it passes through the Sierra de Guara. Here the river narrows, gathers strong flow, and creates impressive shapes in the limestone rock and crystal-clear turquoise pools.
The canyon is divided into two parts. The first part, the Tamara narrows, is the most beautiful and sporty. It ends at the Tamara spring with its magnificent beach where you can stop to drink from the springs, eat something, and rest. After this point begins the second part of the descent, more open and calm but very beautiful, with many jumps of all heights (all avoidable), fun slides, and a washing machine (whirlpool).
