The Aigüeta Barbaruens canyon is one of the classic descents in the Pyrenees. The canyon is located near the town of Barbaruens, in the heart of the Huesca Pyrenees – Benasque Valley. It is a very complete, dynamic, fun, and aquatic descent.
It is a technical level canyon, which means it is recommended to have prior canyoning experience to perform this activity. Additionally, the approach is quite long (1.5 to 2 hours of hiking) and demanding, so a good level of physical fitness is required.
The Aigüeta Barbaruens canyon impresses with its crystal-clear turquoise waters and the unique beauty of its surroundings: high walls covered with abundant vegetation, hanging lianas, and trees – all of this gives the feeling of being in the middle of a jungle.
The canyon features several rappels, many slides, and jumps up to 10 meters. Some rappels can be jumped, but the water flow must always be analyzed beforehand to ensure safety.
Along the route, you will learn about the canyon’s flora and fauna and enjoy the beauty of geological formations sculpted by water in the canyon walls over millions of years.
