The Font Bordonera canyon in Organyà is a fantastic descent for beginners, located near the village. The water in this canyon comes from a spring that gives it its name. However, in summer, most of the water is diverted for irrigation and the village’s needs, which can be disappointing.
Font Bordonera is an open-channel canyon, meaning that in case of heavy rain, there are multiple easy exit points. The canyon only narrows in four main sections, where you’ll find rappels. These can also be replaced with jumps or slides.
Another great feature: if you want to go canyoning while staying in La Cerdanya, it’s only a 30-minute drive away, making it a great option for a first canyoning experience.
The canyon is made of limestone, and the water that feeds it comes not only from the spring but also from the Boumort National Game Reserve, home to many wild animals, including Pyrenean deer. Each year, these deer offer a spectacular show during the rutting season, known locally as “la brama”.
