The Roi canyon gets its name from the characteristic reddish hue of the terrain in this area, due to the uranium mineral from the nearby mines. It is located in the municipality of La Torre de Cabdella (Lleida). The ravine offers a lush, green environment in its first section. The descent begins in an open area, and as we move forward, the ravine narrows, forming numerous rappels, small jumps, multiple slides, and down climbs.
It is a medium-difficulty ravine — not complicated with normal water flow, but caution is needed when walking through the stream bed, as it is very slippery. The descent is quite intense and great fun. It’s an ideal ravine for improving abseiling techniques and practicing jumps. The best season for descending Roi is from May to October.
Medium.
These times are approximate and depend on participants’ level, group size, and water flow. Also factor in time for briefing, changing in and out of gear, so the total activity duration is about 4 hours.
It is essential to bring sports shoes or hiking boots, swimsuit, and towel. A change of clothes in the car is recommended.
