Canyoning in Catalonia and Aragon has recently become one of the most popular adventure sports in Spain.
Canyoning is an adventure activity involving descending canyons on foot, jumping into water, swimming, scrambling, or using rappel techniques depending on the conditions each canyon offers.
With Mundocanyon, you can explore various canyons in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees of different difficulty levels. We offer canyoning in the Pyrenees for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.
Doing via ferrata in the Pyrenees is an amazing plan to enjoy wonderful mountain views from the highest points. A via ferrata is a vertical or horizontal route along a large rock wall, where progressing becomes fun as you climb.
The first via ferrata was invented by the Italians to help their entire army cross and secure strategic military positions and artillery placements by equipping passages through the Dolomite mountains. This allowed them to overcome large verticals with little effort.
There are via ferratas in the Pyrenees suitable for everyone, with many options in Lleida at different difficulty levels. We always offer the activity that fits your preferences and physical condition.
Mundocanyon offers a wide range of excursions in the Pyrenees with different durations, lengths, and difficulty levels. Just contact us by phone, and we will tell you all the possibilities.
Regarding hiking routes in Catalonia, we have medium-length routes, single or multi-day with overnight stays, suitable for all levels based on preferences and fitness. Some popular areas include: Alto Pirineo Natural Park, Boumort National Hunting Reserve, Collegats Gorge, Aguas Tuertas National Park and Lake San Mauricio, Vall Fosca.
To offer something different, we’ve prepared aquatic trekking (water trekking) and adventure trekking activities.
Water trekking, commonly known as aquatic hiking, is an activity derived from canyoning. The same canyon explorers found different routes along rivers, seeking waterfalls, jumps, or tall formations.
Water trekking consists of walking along a riverbed without needing rappel equipment, ropes, or harnesses. You simply walk through beautiful river locations and sometimes jump, dive, swim, or float along clear waters.
These are spectacular river sections where walking replaces rope use. Occasionally, you’ll need to slow down to overcome obstacles, but nothing too complicated. It offers similar experiences like jumps, slides, and even some water caves.
In some sections, you’ll experience a unique aquatic technique called floating, where you let the current carry you through rapids and small waves, which is fun and adrenaline-pumping.
If you have a fear of heights, water trekking provides an experience closest to canyoning without needing ropes or harnesses.
It’s also a good introduction to canyoning, offering a lower-level experience to get a feel for it.
Adventure trekking is a sport combining hiking, via ferrata, and canyoning. This activity gets your adrenaline pumping by crossing rivers via zip lines, rappelling, exploring caves, and enjoying their formations.
As canyon and mountain guides, we combine both activities into one, covering routes of several kilometers where you’ll need to use ropes and descent techniques.
Adventure trekking is occasionally a circular route with more than just walking. You’ll need safety gear like harness and helmet, as the route includes obstacles such as rappels, zip lines, equipped passages, and bridges.
The terrain is challenging, including narrow gorges with towering rock walls, visits to troglodyte villages (hard to access), and equipped routes ensuring safe passage—all while enjoying a beautiful day with incredible Pyrenean mountain views.
All necessary equipment (helmet, harness, anchor cables or life lines similar to via ferrata) is provided by the company.
Snowshoeing in Lleida is perfect for those who love snowy landscapes. Walking with snowshoes is easy and a lot of fun. Our snowshoeing routes in Lleida offer laughter and fun for all ages—not just walking but playing, laughing, and having a great time.
There are designed circuits for snowshoeing, but we also organize off-trail winter routes for an even fuller experience, including multi-day trips with overnight stays in mountain refuges.
Snowshoes are older than the wheel and prevent sinking into the snow by walking on its surface. Archaeological remains over 10,000 years old were found in Mongolia, where primitive humans invented these tools to walk on snow during the last Ice Age.
Don’t hesitate to live this winter experience in the Pyrenees, accompanied by expert mountain guides who will make the activity unforgettable and worth repeating.
If you want to deepen your canyoning skills, we recommend our canyoning course. Throughout the course, you’ll learn descent and self-rescue techniques to canyon safely.
It’s a great way to start if you plan to explore various canyons or want to learn descent techniques and maneuvers. The course includes descending one canyon of your choice to reinforce concepts and see how they are applied in real activities with your guide.
The course has two parts: a theoretical-practical section in a dry area with facilities to practice maneuvers and learn equipment use, and a fully practical section descending a canyon with guidance to help you perform the maneuvers independently.
We also offer courses for those wanting to learn orienteering, a sport gaining popularity in Spain. It involves correctly using your senses and basic orientation tools: a map and compass. With these tools, you will never get lost or disoriented.
Our goal is to introduce you to the mountain world and teach you how to move without losing your way or wasting time searching for the right path.
It’s a very entertaining activity where you learn a lot and get exercise. The course includes a real test with checkpoints you must locate with the map’s help.
Checkpoints are devices equipped with a coded clip you must mark on your sheet to prove you passed the point indicated on the map.
