The route takes place in the Parc Nacional d’Aig\u00fcestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici<\/strong>, among mountain lakes, snow-covered forests and some of the most characteristic peaks of this sector of the Pyrenees.<\/p>\n The route starts near Estany de Sant Maurici<\/strong>, at an altitude of around 1,900 metres. From here, we gradually gain altitude towards Estany de Ratera<\/strong> and the upper areas of the park, with the possibility of approaching the Mirador de l’Estany<\/strong> before continuing the ascent towards Refugi d’Amitges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The refuge is located at an altitude of over 2,300 metres, surrounded by spectacular high-mountain scenery. From this area, weather conditions permitting, we can enjoy extensive panoramic views over the mountains, lakes and forests of the national park.<\/p>\n The reference itinerary is circular and covers approximately 10.3 km with 540 metres of positive elevation gain<\/strong>. The guide will always adapt the itinerary to the weather, snowpack conditions and safety considerations.<\/p>\n This route offers the opportunity to discover some of the most representative places in the Sant Maurici sector during winter.<\/p>\n As we climb, the landscape gradually changes from the forests surrounding Sant Maurici to a much more open high-mountain environment near Amitges.<\/p>\n During the activity, we will also learn the basic techniques for using snowshoes and poles and discover different aspects of the Pyrenean landscape and mountains during winter.<\/p>\n Previous snowshoeing experience is not essential, but this excursion requires a higher level of fitness than introductory routes<\/strong> due to its distance, elevation gain and duration.<\/p>\n Before starting, the guide will explain how to use the snowshoes and poles correctly and how to move over different types of snow.<\/p>\n If you are looking for an easier first experience with less elevation gain, the Comes de Rubi\u00f3 or Pla de la Font routes may be more suitable alternatives.<\/p>\n Refugi d’Amitges<\/strong> is the main objective of the excursion, but in winter mountain conditions the planned route can never be guaranteed completely.<\/p>\n Snow conditions, wind, visibility or weather conditions may make it necessary to modify the itinerary or establish a different turnaround point.<\/p>\n The final decision will always be made by the guide, with the safety of the group as the top priority.<\/p>\n The starting point of the snowshoe route is in the Sant Maurici<\/strong> sector. Access from Espot can be made using the authorised transport service to the park, depending on the season and access conditions.<\/p>\n Transport to Sant Maurici is not included in the base price of the activity and must be paid separately<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Before the excursion, we will confirm the meeting point, access arrangements and corresponding schedules.<\/p>\n You will need waterproof hiking boots, technical winter clothing, a waterproof and windproof jacket, gloves, a hat, sunglasses, sun protection, water and enough food for the entire activity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n We recommend dressing in layers so that you can adapt your clothing to changes in temperature and the level of physical effort during the route.<\/p>\n It is also advisable to carry a small backpack with enough space for an additional warm layer, water and food.<\/p>\n The season depends directly on the presence and condition of the snow.
